| In Memory of Phil Patz |
Dear CMC Members,
It is with great sadness that we want to share the passing of Phil Patz. Phil died on Thursday June 25 while diving in
Lake Michigan about 20 miles north of Milwaukee in 200-300 feet of
water. The Sheriff's Department is investigating, but has not released any details of the
accident. Phil's great laugh, his love of all things outdoors and his
wry sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be July 7, 2009 from 5 PM to 8 PM at:
Gurnee & Salata 4190 E. Old Grand Avenue Gurnee, IL (Phone 847-244-1155)
The family would prefer a donation to The Access Fund instead of flowers.
Condolences can be sent to Phil's mother at:
Katherine McCleary
944 W 87th Ave.
Merrillville, IN 46410
or
Deborah Kujbida
39198 Welsh Lane

Mount Assiniboine's symmetric pyramid in the southern Canadian Rockies has prompted comparisons to The Matterhorn. Assiniboine, which has been accorded the status of its own Canadian national park, provides superb climbing from a hut in the col to the north. The 11,750' peak has been scaled by a number of CMC members. The normal route ascends the prominent ridge line on the left -- the "North Ridge" -- which offers snow, ice and rock rated at 5.7, leading to an airy summit. Photo by Jim Pearre.
